Of all factions, the units of the Euskaldunak may be the most interesting, in no small part due to the fact that unlike many other factions who usually raise vast numbers of mercenaries, the Euskaldunak instead have three: their notorious Kladiabiakoi, Spearmen and Axemen - all three of them sacrifice train speed and armour for lower cost and stronger attack against specific targets - the Kladibiakoi for infantry, the Axemen for siege weapons and buildings, and finally the Spearmen for cavalry.

However, these units, as powerful as they are, almost lack armour and are slow and as such, clearly are meant to function in tandem with the Euskaldunak unit stealth bonus. Lack of speed and armour for the three unique Euskaldunak units usually means that for the Euskaldunak, enlarging one's borders as well as raiding neighbours should be the main strategy. However, being constrained toward this sort of strategy has its drawbacks, as there are factions with powerful counters, such as the Siberians (with their legendary reach) or the Indians, Elamites and Shang who often have an archer advantage.

Outside of battle, an Euskaldunak player has several options to fine-tune the economy with the ability to gather Food from Woodcutters' Posts and to build the Meeting House for free, thus allowing for quick access to Policies as well. Such a boon will be required, given how vulnerable Euskaldunak armies are to factions with more sophisticated weapons, meaning that vast set-piece battles aren't really a thing for them - certainly not without allies with stiffer units.  Possibly, in addition to leveraging stealth, it also pays the Euskaldunak player to learn how to plot forward build rushes and use psychological warfare against their opponents.
